A memorial service for former Claremore resident John Owen Dover will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Freeman-Harris Funeral Home in Tulsa.
Dover passed away Saturday, June 12, 2004 in a boating accident. He was 50.
John Owen Dover was born September 14, 1953 in New Orleans, LA the son of Kyle and Marlene Dover. His grandparents - the late Lois and Owen Dover and Ovid and Ocie Mayberry - were longtime Claremore area pioneers, business and civic leaders. He graduated from Tulsa East Central High and attended Rogers State University where he was Phi Beta Kappa.
A Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a distributor and marketing representative for Tahitian Noni International
He was a member of Jubilee Worship Center in Tulsa. An avid fisherman and hunter, he was a wining tournament archery competitor. He enjoyed his time with is children and grandchildren and playing pitch with friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Ayers and Camron of Verdigris; sons, Jonathan Cunningham and Nairym of Ft. Bragg, S.C., and Justin Dover of Stillwater; companion, Debbie Carr-Dover, grandchildren, Caleb, Corey and Cyler Ayers and Lillianise Cunningham; parents, Kyle and Marlene Dover of Claremore; brother, Jerry and Debbie Dover of Southwest City, MO; Janelle and David Hankinson of Sequim, WA; and many aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and cousins.
