Mark Daniel Polumbus, 69, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on January 9, 2023. He was born on September 25, 1953, to his parents Eugene and Ruth Polumbus. He was a graduate of East Central High School and Northeastern State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science.
Mark’s love for singing led him to join the Tulsa Opera where he sang in multiple operas as well as he was involved with the choir at East Tulsa Christian Church. He worked in sales and management roles for many years before starting his own company, Marco Industries, in 1991. Mark grew Marco from a small family business to a multi-million-dollar industry leader in Metal Building components. He was a multiple business owner, multiple patent-holder, and overall innovator, but Mark’s proudest achievement was his family.
He met the love of his life, Marilyn, at Tulsa Junior College. They were married in 1977 and together had three children. Clay, Kate, and Josh were his true pride and joy. Mark coached all his kids in several sports throughout the years including Clay’s baseball team, the Cubs. He continued mentoring lots of his players for many many years afterward.
Mark was an avid gardener and landscaper as he also designed and installed full custom layouts for quite a few homes in the Tulsa area.
Mark leaves behind a legacy of generosity in every form as he loved to give his time, money, thoughts, and influence to everyone he met.
Mark retired in 2014 and spent his days working on projects and delighting in his grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his sisters, Jan and Pat Polumbus, his children and their spouses, Clay and Tasha Polumbus, Kate and Darryl Turner, Josh and Chelsea Polumbus, and his grandchildren, Henry and Tessa Polumbus, Reid Polumbus, and Charlie Rose Turner.
Mark was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
