McALESTER — Bruce A. Honel, 50, of Canadian, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Duane Nelson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Oct. 28, 1960, in Madison, Wis., he was the son of Lawrence K. and Alvera Bailey Honel. He moved to Tulsa with his family and grew up there. He attended schools in Tulsa and graduated from Edison High School. He then went to a trade school where he learned plumbing.

He married Lorrie Green on May 8, 1982, in Chelsea. He was in maintenance for the last six years at McAlester Regional Health Center as well as working at the Van Buren House and the Wellness Center. He was a jack of all trades.

He was a fisherman and loved to be around his family and grandchildren and he loved living on the lake.

Survivors include his wife, Lorrie Honel, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Danielle Honel, of Okmulgee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Leah and Jimmy McKenzie, of Claremore, and Audra and Sam Mann, of Canadian.

Also, grandchildren, Clare Mann, Easton Mann, Casidee Mann, Elizabeth McKenzie, Keirsten Piotter, Holley McKenzie, Kallen Piotter and Khloe Honel.

And, his parents, Lawrence and Alvera Honel, of Canadian; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Missie Honel, of Canadian, and Brad and Mel Honel, of Broken Arrow, and one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Dave Brown, of Tulsa.
