I have a very fond memory of Clark Warne. I wouldn't say that we were friends but we did know each other. I'm wondering if any of my fellow Eagles remember any of this or can confirm my memories. Heck, its been thirty years.

I remember playing tennis with Clark on the Edison Tennis Courts behind the school. It was senior skip out day and Clark said he was going to skip out with some of the other seniors and head up to Grand Lake. He asked me if I was heading up there too. I told him I had to work and couldn't. We played two or three games of tennis it was around third hour or lunch time.

Clark and I finished and he went to Grand Lake...the next thing I heard, Clark had drowned at Grand Lake.

I always wondered if we had played one more game of tennis would it have made any difference. Probably not but you always wonder about those kind of things.

I grew up with Clark and he was a heck of a baseball player. His dad, Boyd, built the baseball diamonds that are still up at Waite Phillips even today ( I think ). I played baseball on his team and he always played hard and was fun to be around. We grew apart in high school but I will never forget his funeral and I think most of our class was excused from school that day...very sad.

Having 2 teenagers now I always tell my daughter to make good choices. I also tell them I don't know when or who but someone in high school will die and you will remember them for the rest of your life. I remember when Clark had his motorcycle accident and I remember what happen at Grand Lake like it was yesterday. I remeber the girls that wrapped there car around the pole during high school and most of all I rember Mikaleen Irving the girl that was two years older than us who died in her car that caught on fire after a guy hit her while he was flying down 41st being chased buy police. I used to think Clark was sooo cute and will remember him for the rest of my life. Cherish your children why you have them because you never know if and when they could be taken away. I thank Mikaleen and Clark for showing me how precious life really is.
