Kevin R. Eisenbeis, age 63, passed away on July 12th, 2025. Kevin was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 28th, 1961 to his parents Richard and Helen Eisenbeis. As a young man, Kevin attended Memorial High School in Tulsa and held the rank of Eagle Scout. He completed his undergraduate education at Oklahoma State University. Later, Kevin obtained his J.D. from Kansas University Law School, where he also met his wife, Amy. Kevin’s career in law took him from Kansas to Washington, D.C., and finally to Michigan, where he lived for 30 years. For more than 20 years, Kevin worked as the Director of the Department of Environmental Health and Safety at Michigan State University.
Kevin is remembered as a devoted father, an avid outdoorsman, a passionate fan of Oklahoma State University athletics, and a voracious reader. Throughout the years, Kevin’s weekends were often spent volunteering at and spectating his daughters’ athletic events, and he especially enjoyed becoming an expert in all things softball, cross country, and swimming. When not cheering on Williamston Schools, Kalamazoo College, or Kenyon College, Kevin was supporting his Oklahoma State Cowboys- no matter how much pain it caused him when they lost. A fixture on the local pub trivia circuit, Kevin put his vast knowledge on display as the leader of the family trivia team: the "Despicable Es”. His daughters will remember studying potential trivia topics with him fondly. As a lifelong athlete, Kevin took up golf and played competitively in several regional leagues. Additionally, Kevin volunteered his time with the Ducks Unlimited organization, where he fostered his great love for the outdoors- a love that took him on many expeditions to appreciate nature in destinations such as Mexico, Belize, Canada, and across the western United States. His loved ones will miss the vivacity, wisdom, steadfastness, and wit he brought to this world and he will always be remembered as a beloved father, husband, and friend.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Amy, and his daughters, Emma and Gwenyth. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Helen, and his sister, Jan Moss.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Kevin on Friday August 1st, 2025 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home located at 1730 E Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. At 6:00 PM, Kevin’s daughters will take a few moments to share some of their favorite memories and stories.
