SAWYER -- Phillip Vernon, went home to be with Almighty God and His resurrected Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, from whom all blessings flow on January 7, 2003. Phillip was born in Tulsa, February 19, 1955 to H.E. and Wordna DuRay Dawson Sawyer. He is survived by his parents, age 80 and 79. His loving and utterly dedicated parents live in Grove, OK and are retired. Phillip resided in Tulsa. He is further survived by a beautiful and gifted daughter, Suzanna, age 12. Phillip is also survived by his elder brother, H.E. "Buzzy" Sawyer, Jr., age 52, a Consultant who makes his home in Tulsa. Phillip Sawyer graduated from Tulsa Will Rogers High School and from the University of Tulsa with high marks with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1978. Phillip was a hard-working, totally faithful and loyal career employee of Southwestern Bell Corporation and was surrounded by equally loyal friends and colleagues, most especially, Mr. Mike Thatcher of Tulsa and his wonderful wife and family. Phillip was a conspicuously devout Christian and a full-time Bible Scholar and had the mind of Christ in considering all things on Earth as well as in Heaven. An intellectual and Philosopher, Phillip was tolerant of others to a fault and in his brother's opinion, was charity and love, incarnate. This World was and is a vastly richer place because Phillip walked here, prayed here and loved us here. We celebrate your unique and incredible life, Phil. I love you so much, Buzzy. Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel, 2103 E. 3rd St. Cremation Society of Oklahoma, 599-7337.
