Jerry Braggs of Tulsa, OK passed away from Luekemia on November 25th, 1991. He is survived by his father and brother, Larry.
Jerry was a friend that was always there for you. He didn't have much, but what he did have he would share with you. I will never forget the time that he and I went to the basketball game in Okmulgee. We had a blast together. -- Chris Mendez
Jerry was truly a trustworthy friend. Always made me laugh, always the gentleman. Just back from Japan, my folks had left a msg, they asked what Jerry's last name was. Well, I wished I would've stayed in touched after joining the Air Force.
I remember going to see Jerry in the hospital. He was so upbeat and determined to beat his illness. He did regret that he wasn't going to be able to go to college and play ball. His mother wasn't as optimistic about his surviving, but always had a smile on her face. She was positive and strong in front of Jerry, but she walked me out and said, "honey, I'm glad you came to see him, but he's not going to beat this. God needs him for something."
Jerry was the most stand up guy on the football team. Never talked trash, was never mouthy or cocky...He was a true good guy and its a shame he had to go so soon.
Jerry and I were good friends all through high school and I cant remember a more caring and truely sweet person. He was always happy and never had anything but a smile for you. I still see his brother Larry from time and time. Jerry is one guy I really miss. :)
