Charles Calhoun
I wanted to pass along to his fellow Ropers that my dad, Charles Calhoun, Sr., passed away peacefully at home in Denton, TX yesterday, 7/10/19. He fought Alzheimer’s since he was diagnosed in 2011 and later Parkinson’s.

Charles Earl Calhoun 78, married to Mary Lou Calhoun passed from this life on Thursday, July 10, 2019.
Born on January 25, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Charles was the son of Wayne and Are Mae Calhoun.
Charles graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Charles went on to earn his degree from
Oklahoma State University where he was a cheerleader.
Charles retired from Rockwell International/Boeing as a quality assurance engineer. Charles' hobbies were
Amateur Radio Operator (W0RRY), metal detecting, gold mining, and dog breeding and exhibiting. Charles
enjoyed watching OSU football and NASCAR racing. His favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr.
He was known for his quick wit and his kind and compassionate spirit.
His parents, Wayne and Are Mae Calhoun, precede Charles in passing. He is survived by his wife,
Mary Lou Calhoun; brother, Wayne Calhoun Jr. and his spouse, Linda; Son, Charles Calhoun Jr. and his
spouse, Mary; daughter, Laurie England and her spouse, Derek; step-children, Cindy Haddock and her
spouse, Darin; Henry Jones and his spouse, Maggie; grandchildren, Blake and Brock Calhoun;
step-grandchildren, Austin and Logan Haddock, Dustin, Chari, Nathan, Vanessa and Jasper Jones, as well
as 8 step-great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.
Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Charles' life in their own way, raising a glass of Dr. Pepper
in his memory would be quite appropriate.

I remember Charles as a really nice person all of his life. We started out at Sequoyah Elementary and watching him dance!!! Ford Jerrell was his dance instructor. Charles was a multitalented person.

Ahh, sweet childhood memories!! Charles Calhoun was my first boyfriend at Cleveland Jr. High. Square dance classes, dance recitals, lots of baseball games...and what it meant to be a groupie!! I still love baseball!
So Sorry he had to suffer those final years.
