I LOVED DORTHY KITCHENS, SHE WAS A REAL MOTHER TO US BOYS AT THE MANSION IN THE 60'S , I REMEMBER ONE TIME WHEN WE WERE GETTING READY TO GO TO SCHOOL, I TOLD AUNT DORTHY (WE CALLED HER THAT) I DID NOT WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL WITH A HOLE IN MY BLUE JEANS, SO SHE TOOK ME UP TO THE STORE ROOM AND GOT ME A PAIR OF JEANS WITHOUT A HOLE IN THEM SO I WOULD NOT BE EMBARRASSED. SHE WAS TRULY AN ANGEL, I WILL ALWAYS MISS HER, SHE WAS ALWAYS A MOM TO US BOYS AND A GREAT CATCH FOR UNCLE WILBURN,AUNT DORTHY I KNOW YOUR UP THERE, SO WATCH OVER US , LOVE, CLIFTON PARKER

Since my brothers and I lived so long at the mansion we saw a lot of matrons and deans come and go. I must say of the later ones that were there Dorothy showed the most genuine caring. I remember one time when she was taking care of the girls, different ones were asking her to check their ears and make sure they were clean. She checked mine and pronounced them clean; I just had some blackheads in them so she took a bobby pin and used the rounded end to squeeze them out.

I also remember the day Claudia Jean was born. She was so tiny with a head of black hair. We only got to see her and "her brand new mom" through the window. Dorothy looked so proud.

Whenever Dorothy would say, "If you want to know something, ask one of those Jennins'. They know everything" I never took offense because although she meant it, it wasn't really said with malice. My brothers and I have laughed about that many times over the years.

I'm very sorry for your loss, Wilbur and Claudia. She is missed much.

One of Aunt Dorthy favorite sayings was,and I have repeated many times over the years, was "If I've told you once I've told you forty eleven times". Do you know how many forty eleven times is? It's 440.That's a bunch in anybody's book. She was such a sweet heart and never an unkind word about anybody that I ever heard.
