My favorite memory of "Gooch" was our senior year when he was our manager. We were playing football at Atwater and John Marson threw a touchdown pass to John Shirley. After we kicked off Gooch forgot to go get the kick off tee and coach Jones noticed it and yelled "GOOOOOCH go get the tee!" So Gary sprinted out to the middle of the field, his little legs moving like pistons. Well he had a blue and gold striped shirt on and he tripped in the middle of the field falling across a chalk line at an angle. The whole stadium errupted in laughter and Gooch got up with a white line running diagionally across his chest. I laughed so hard, I cried. Miss ya Gooch.
Gary was so fun to be around. He was a real friend. I enjoyed his friendship and thoughtfuness. Gary left us too early in life. After all these years, when I think of Turlock High School, Gary Sakaguchi invariably comes to mind. God bless Gary Sakaguchi
There are not enough words to say about my great friend Gary, the Sak man! Remembering the first time I went to his house and him showing off his posters on the walls of Bruce Lee and other things. joking around with his num-chucks and talking about girls. The Hot Blue Trans-am and his ever so addictive smile. I cant ever remember him never smiling. He was such an insperation to all of us at Turlock High. To him and all us size didnt matter. Dont think this man had any enemies to speak of. Gary will be waiting in Heaven with that great smile and laugh to welcome us all into paradise.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful spirit with us all Gary.
