Margie was killed in a tragic crash with her sister Hedi and several other family members in Oklahoma as they were flying to Colorado for vacation in her brother-in-law's plane.
I knew Margie since elementary school. We were in the same 2nd or 3rd grade class and Brownies together. I played with Margie and her sister, Alma, and some of their neighborhood friends at their house a few times. I didn't run around with her crowd in high school, but we had girls' chorus together and she was always nice to me.
My family and I were living in Oklahoma City when I heard breaking news about a terrible plane crash and went into the den to watch the story. I was shocked to find out someone I knew was on the plane. Margie and her family members who were killed had just left from visiting Alma. It's a shame they went so tragically.
