BIRMINGHAM - Linda Lightfoot LaMoreaux, age 67, of Birmingham, died Monday, October 23, 2017, in Jackson, Miss. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2017, in the Westervelt-Warner Chapel at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa with the Rev. Lou Ann Sellers officiating. The family will receive friends in Warner Hall immediately following the service.
Linda was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend. She attended Livingston University (The University of West Alabama). Early in her career, she was a buyer for Furchgott's Department Store in Jacksonville, Fla., where she quickly rose through the ranks to manage the entire juniors department. Following her fashion career, she represented world renowned wildlife artist Basil Ede as his curator and marketing director on behalf of Gulf States Paper Corporation. Linda later owned Les Rubans, a well-known Tuscaloosa gift shop.
Active in the Junior League of Tuscaloosa for many years, she was a strong supporter of the Kentuck Arts Center during her time in Tuscaloosa. An avid art collector who supported many Southern artists, she was a lifelong traveler who filled her home with purchases she made around the world. Linda derived special pleasure from bringing treasures from her travels back to her girls, who brought her great pride and joy.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Major Berl Everett Lightfoot and Dorothy Pauline Lightfoot; brothers, Berl E. Lightfoot, Jr. and Billy Lightfoot; and great-aunts Christine Davis and Sarah Vickers.
She is survived by her daughters, Nicole E. LaMoreaux (Arieh Ress) of New York and Susan J. LaMoreaux of New Orleans, La.; sisters Barbara Lake of Jackson, Miss., Joan Lightfoot of Gulf Shores, Ala. and Dorothy Lightfoot of Semmes, Ala.; and nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Linda was known by her family and friends as a caring, loyal, funny and stylish individual. Admired for her creative talents and interior design skills, she leaves a positive mark on all the people she touched during her lifetime.
