COTTONDALE Kenneth Ray Waldrop, age 62, of Cottondale, passed away June 3, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Ray served his country with the U.S. Army for five years during the Vietnam Era. He retired from BF Goodrich after 31 years of employment.

Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to the beach with friends and family. He especially liked watching his grandsons play baseball and football. He was also an avid fan of Alabama football and NASCAR racing.

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Marshall Waldrop.

He is survived by his wife. Laurie Popejoy Waldrop; mother, Lillian Reese Waldrop; brother, Ronald Waldrop (Louise); children, Jason Ray Waldrop (Liz) and Melanie Waldrop Tubbs (Gary); and six grandchildren, Dylan Ray Waldrop, Grayson Paul Waldrop, Owen Jackson Waldrop, Hannah Paige Tubbs, Jackson Travis Tubbs, and Braylon Jacob Tubbs.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Smith officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Terrell Waldrop, Daniel Waldrop, Joe Harris, Dock Taylor, Gary Fleming, Robert Nix, Sonny Albright, and David Albright. .
