Walter and I first met in 7th grade at Eastwood Junior High School and sang together in Boys' Chorus in the 8th and 9th grades and in Boys' Chorus in 10th grade at Tuscaloosa High School and then in Mixed Chorus, Barbershop Quartet and Wintergreen Singers during our junior and senior years.
Music was our bond, but his friendship carried over throughout our lives. I never saw him after high school, but we talked late in life and remembered the friends and music we shared.
Rest in peace, my friend, I will miss listening to you play your guitar.
I first met Walter on the first day of school, first grade at Alberta Elementary School. From day one we became best fiends. Each day I looked forward to the school day mainly because of Walter's friendship and our true connection. We remained friends all the way through high school. We sang together in Boy's Chorus and Mixed Chorus at THS. Walter had an amazing voice and a very talented guitar player. I totally enjoyed hearing him in the Barbershop Quartet. I always admired his talent!
We lost touch after high school as we both went our separate ways. Later in life we reconnected as friends on Facebook and communicated often.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I will miss my old friend and I send out my condolences to all his friends and family! RIP my old friend
What a talent Walter was. I will always remember loving to hear his smooth tenor voice (and yours, too, Richard Tuten!). I'm sure he is singing in the heavenly choir! Condolences to the family.
Walter moved 2 doors down from me when we were in the7th or 8th grade. He and I along with Terry Mills became best friends and when you saw one of us you usually saw all three. I have so many memories of us sneaking out at night and roaming all over Alberta City. Most nights ended up at Leland Lanes. Trouble we got into but couldn't I have grown up with two better guys. RIP my friend.
Walter and knew each other as being members in the Mixed Chorus. Walter had a great Tenor voice and knew how to use it. My Baritone couldn't compare but it sounded pretty good as long as Walter sang too. Great guy with the limited amount of time we shared the same spaces. I gave up trying to sing when I got to THigh and someone told me to learn how to use a camera on the Bear Facts staff. I had good forces watching over me and still do. Rest in Peace and keep that choir going.
So sorry to hear of Walter's passing. He was a sweet friend and will be missed. We grew up together in Hillsdale and went to church together. Our families were very close. I loved his mother, mama Lou, praying for you Debbie during your time of grief.
