Obituary

Nancy departed this world on Wednesday March 9, 2016 with family by her side in the comfort of her home.

Nancy was born August 1, 1952 in Tyler to Archie and Catherine Young. She attended local schools here in Tyler and was a Robert E Lee Rebellette. She then went to TJC and continued her education at Southwestern University in Georgetown where she majored in sociology. She met her (now late) husband, George Ballard, shortly afterward and they had two children, Gary and Scott. During their early childhood she devoted herself to volunteering as a music teacher for her church's preschool and being a homemaker. Then she started her career with the Health and Human Service Department where she assisted with the DADS program.

She enjoyed drawing and painting and worked for commission for a few projects as an artist. She had hobbies that included crocheting, sewing, quilting and baking. She also dedicated herself to the church at Pollard Methodist and loved to be part of their choir and bells. Nancy was known for her contagious smile and willingness to help others.

Mrs. Ballard was preceded in death by parents, Archie and Catherine Young, brother, Richard Young, and husband, George Ballard. She is survived by her two sons, Gary Ballard and Scott Ballard, daughter-in-law, Ashley Ballard, granddaughter, Makenna Ballard, and brother, Robin Young, and nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday March 12, 2016, at 700 Pam Drive, Tyler, 75703.
