Worked at the US Naval Research Laboratory and the US Office of Naval Research as a physicist and doing laser physics and quantum optics. Retired in the spring of 2000 and moved to Colorado in 2001 where I now reside. I spend my time doing digital photography, riding my road bike in the nearby canyons, and playing pickleball (check Google for a description and history of this - it has nothing to do with gherkins) and snowshoeing in the winter.
Hersch and Hena welcomed their first grandchildren recently when their son Mark and his wife Kathy gave birth to twins, a girl and boy, in Dec. of 2009. All are doing well and the twins require servicing every 3 hours just like a jet aircraft.
