Duane was born April 14, 1956 and went to his eternal home on April 26, 2005.
For Duane, journalism was a fierce dedication to uncovering the truth - even in the riskiest of stories. Journalism became the catalyst for Duane's message of hope. Cancer research was that hope. He shared his story with Channel 12 viewers, and affirmed his belief that cancer would one day be manageable: "I may not see the victory, but I am proud to be part of the fight."
Duane's unparalleled spirit and faith in God empowered him - "Fear thou not; for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God." Isaiah 41:10
Duane's countless stories and hours of laughter redefined humor. Love encompassed Duane's relationships and his love for Teri touched us all.

From the internet--WISN TV released this statement Wednesday on the passing of former Channel 12 reporter/anchor Duane Gay:It is with great sadness that we share the news of Duane Gay's passing. After a fierce battle with cancer, Duane died peacefully on Tuesday, April 26. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Teri. Duane was 49 years old.

Our viewers knew Duane as an award-winning journalist who touched countless lives with the stories he told. Those who worked with Duane knew him as a wonderful human being who found humor in everything and loved life. In a statement from WISN-TV President and General Manager Frank Biancuzzo:
"Duane will be greatly missed by our station family and throughout the community. He was a dedicated journalist and a remarkable storyteller who shared his unique talents with everyone. His courage and optimism during the past few years inspired us all. Duane was always grateful for the overwhelming support from our community."
Duane joined WISN-TV as a general assignment reporter in 1993. He was best known for his reporting in the weekly news segments "It's Your Money" and "The Inside Story." For a short time, Duane co-anchored Channel 12's morning news with WISN-TV's Sally Severson. After being diagnosed with a rare soft tissue cancer in the late '90s, Duane went on medical leave. However, he continued to provide periodic, inspirational updates on his medical condition and experimental cancer treatments. Duane was last seen in September 2004 on WISN-TV's "On Assignment" news magazine.
Prior to joining Channel 12, Duane served as news director at Milwaukee's WVTV (1988-1993) and as an anchor/reporter at Green Bay's WLUK-TV (1984-1988) and Wausau's WAOW-TV (1982-1984). Before moving into television, he worked as a radio reporter and anchor at WLPX and WBCS in Milwaukee, WYTL and WOSH in Oshkosh and WIZM in La Crosse. He earned a mass communications degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
