Union Grove - David M. Gilbertson, 59, passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2015 at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Hospital. He was born November 20, 1955 to Russell and Wilma (nee Miller) Gilbertson in Racine, Wisconsin. 

Dave’s family moved to Union Grove when he was a young child and he graduated from Union Grove Union High School in 1974. Dave worked for 35 years as custodian for the Southern Wisconsin Center and he retired in September 2012. He married the love of his life, Joyce Pynaker, on October 9, 1998. Together they loved camping “Up North” and all over the State and Country. He always enjoyed a good long car ride and drove everywhere. Collector cars were a passion of his and he had owned a 1966 Mustang.

Dave was blessed to have been baptized this January and attended the Union Grove Congregational Church with Joyce.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; his siblings, Russell (Alice) Gilbertson, Al (Phyllis) Gilbertson, Kenny Gilbertson, and Phillip (Pat) Gilbertson; Joyce’s siblings, Barb (Tim) Pynaker, Ken (Alice) Pynaker, Keith (Mary Ellen) Pynaker, Don (Darlene Masik) Pynaker, and Deb (Steve) Pynaker; many nieces and nephews; his wonderful friend and sponsor, Kelly Diem; and his special friends at Annetta’s Café.

Dave was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Ellen Marie in 1980; his parents, Russell and Wilma Gilbertson; Joyce’s parents, Ben and Nancy Pynaker; his infant brother, Sanford; Joyce's brother, Ron Pynaker; and his beloved Schipperke dogs, Mandy and Dark Star.
