Union Grove - Peter R. Schmeckel, 58, passed away on November 21, 2015 at Aurora Burlington Memorial Hospital. He was born December 5, 1956 to Robert and Janette (nee Schaefer) Schmeckel in Kenosha, WI. He graduated from Union Grove High School and was a lifelong resident of the Union Grove/ Kansasville area. Peter married Sharon Kraft on April 16, 1983. They started Schmeckel Farms in 1989 and they raised beef cows, hogs, and grain. Peter and Sharon enjoyed traveling and their cruise to Alaska was the trip of a lifetime. Peter liked to spend his free time playing cards and penny slots at the casinos. He had been a parishioner at St. Francis Church and later St. Robert Bellarmine Church where he was active in the choir.

Peter is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Jeffrey Schmeckel of Kansasville, Tracy Schmeckel of Burlington, and Joellen Schmeckel of Monroe; his mother, Janette Schmeckel; and siblings, Mary (Steve) Merkel of Ft. Atkinson, James Schmeckel of Union Grove, Tom (Lisa) Schmeckel of Whitewater, and Sue (Dave) Porter of Hartland.

Peter was preceded in death by his father, Robert in 2012 and his brother, Tim Schmeckel in 2010.
