Derek Ray Hubbard, a musician and missionary, was killed March 10, 2005, in Durban, South Africa. Mr. Hubbard was 45 and a resident of St. Louis. Mr. Hubbard's body was found in an alley, apparently stabbed to death. Mr. Hubbard was on a two-week missionary trip to Durban. Mr. Hubbard was born in Buchanan, Mich. In his senior year of high school, he moved with his family to the St. Louis area, where he graduated from University City High School in 1978. He was a Christian musician and singer. He served as a musician at Abundant Life Temple in University City, First Bible Fellowship Apostolic Church and New Dimension, both in East St. Louis, and New Bethlehem and Union Tabernacle churches, both in St. Louis.
