Mary Thompson was just a very lovely human being. I will never forget when she made the cheerleading squad, everyone on the team was so excited for her. She was the only one who could do a "perfect" russian split - and the crowds at the games would go wild when she did her solo to the welcome cheer, "Roll Call!" A true angel gone much too soon, and one that will be sorely missed.

Mary, had one of the most prettiest smile you have ever seen. She was a person who energized the room in a subtle way. Never one who needed attention but you couldn't help but to notice she was there. A soft spoken and very gracious young lady. I too remember her on the cheerleading squad. She even stood out there. I didn't know that she had passed would have loved to have seen her. What a blessing she was to our class and UCHS.

I have wonderful memories of Mary.  We became friends in Mr. McSpadden’s Trig class, where we discovered a shared love for his teaching style and a shared sense of humor.  I recall both of us being so disappointed that he wasn’t going to be teaching Analysis the following year, we successfully lobbied for him to add the class. We also loved teasing him about his large selection of ties, and catalogued them with creative names.

Mary was funny, gracious, bright, and caring.  I was so sorry to hear of her passing, but so glad to learn about the lives she touched.

When at the 30th reunion I saw Mary's name among those who had died, I couldn't believe it. How could someone so full of life and energy be gone so soon? Mary was among the kindest, most gracious souls I have ever known, and it is my loss to not have stayed in touch after high school. I got to know her younger brother, Steve, who was on Tom Tom his sophomore (my senior) year. Mary wrote in my yearbook: "Now you have two Thompsons who love you lots." I love you, too, Mary. Your obituary reveals how you kept on inspiring people your whole life.
