Phil left us at a very young age due to cancer. We certainly have missed seeing him grow up us.John Millious (John Earl Millious)
I met Phil in Mrs.Rickner's kindergarden class. I recall that he shared his large rest period mat with me, since mine was tiny. He showed kindness back then.Karel Kelsik (Karel Kelsik Barney)
Phil was such a gentle soul around Barrington. Unfortunately, he was the first to help us learn the fragile nature of life. To Phil we should all send a shy smile. He was part of us. Karel Kelsik BarneyTom Howell (Thomas Conner Howell)
Phil and I were "across the street" neighbors starting at four years old. I guess you could say we grew up together to say the least. We traveled to school side by side for 13 years, walking to Barrington, riding our bikes to Jones, and driving/walking to UAHS. His struggle with disease and death was brave for his part and very difficult for me. It was hard and honorable to be a pall bearer at 19 yrs old.Phil came into my dreams for many years afterwards. In a good way to visit, but strange to consider when I awoke. Maybe many of you have had a similiar experience with the passing of those who were close.
I want to mention the huge help and comfort that classmate Judy Jones contributed. Judy and Phil dated at the time and she came to comfort him at the hospital the entire summer he was there until his passing. She is a seriously giving and compassionate person. Judy, thank you so much for being there for us so long ago.
Respectfully submitted,
Tom Howell
