Tell you a story about this character, Bruce. Back about the fall of 1963, a group of Grandview guys threatened to tear up dear old Arlington High School one night(you know, burning, pillaging, breaking windows, etc.) The challenge had gone out to Bruce - he had a reputation for being a pretty tough dude and a decent street fighter. The Arlington guys would either fight for their school, or it would be ransacked. Well, three or four of us (who were not street fighters at all!) drove up to the school about dark to see what would happen. Johnson waited about two hours for the Bobcats to come........they never showed up! The point is, Bruce was willing to sit there alone, if necessary, in order to defend his school from troublemakers. To me, that epitomized the Golden Bear spirit that most of us admire........
