Jim was a neighbor in the older section of Arlington, good friend, fellow guitar picker and cross-country runner. Williams spent most of his sophomore year re-furbishing a 1930 Model A Ford in his garage at home....it was a piece of work, folks, beautiful! He was bright and had an ironic sense of humor. His Mother would car pool John Ralston, Jim and me (sometimes Don Stump or Mike Hayward) to school in the mornings that 10th grade year. When it was her turn to drive for a week, we always enjoyed the ride - like the Indy 500 - she kept the accelerator to the floor all the way to the new high school! Jim's siblings were really good kids and he spoke very kindly about them at all times when Jack Wilce, George Jacobson, and I would join Jim for folksinging upstairs in his home on Wyandotte Rd.  Later on, Jim's hero on the guitar was Chet Atkins - he spent years perfecting his picking style and played some impressive guitar "licks."  We miss Jim - he valued his friends and his family and the guy really enjoyed going to Arlington..... One summer afternoon in 1962, just before we all started high school, Jim came by the house with one of the gang. Our family had just got back from a California trip and Williams was really excited about something new in the entertainment field. "You gotta hear this record! These guys are amazing..." It was the Four Seasons! Rlg

I remember Jim's smile; it started in his eyes and spread across his face. Jim is one of those people that I knew pretty well but mostly remember the impression he made on me, which was that of a warm, genuinely good person. He left way too early.

As James younger brother I really appreciate your positive comments about my brother Jim. I am proud of his service in the DMZ in Korea after the Pueblo was seized and remain saddened that he came home changed and will never forget the circumstances of his passing in a Vet facility in Ohio. Jim was smart, talented and gifted and I will never forget the image of my Dad crying at his passing at age 27.

I remember lots of good times growing up with Jim and was a regular visitor at his home on Wyandotte. We did some fun things together with Rick Detwiler, Ted Rytel and John Ralston. I remember that way before we had drivers licenses we would take his parents VW out at night while they worked at their restuarant. I think most of us actually learned how to drive that way. He was a great musician and very good with cars. After he came back from Korea we spent some time together off and on as his health would permit. My then wife, Doria, and I had a great time taking Jim to Rochester to visit Rick Detwiler and his wife one winter weekend. I still have a book of poetry that Jim wrote and published. He was a very smart and very sweet guy and I still think of him quite often.

I remember Jim had a little sports car in high school and was taking me home one day from school.  When we got to the driveway he asked how far up he should drive and I said something funny like all the way and HE DID.  He drove me right up to the front door!  I am so sorry to hear of his death.  He did have a great smile and a good sense of humor.  I remember him fondly.
