Although I didn't know Pete that well, I'll always remember him from home room. He sat directly behind me and was always friendly and considerate of me. I was saddened to hear of his departure.
Peter Petruic was a riot.. We spent many a fun filled days with him... he was great, always laughing and having nothing but fun, the days at Diane Lemires one specifically !! Probably shouldn't say.. we absolutely loved him. We filled his parents home with so many of us at his funeral and they couldn't believe how many friends he had.. they were so delighted... what a terrible loss... and never forgotten.. Lynn
Pete was such a sweet guy. I knew him from elementary school as well as high school. He was kind to everybody even though he had that tougher guy look, he was a softie inside. He always enjoyed lovely flirtatious ladies and I know one special relationship/friendship in particular. Yes, his funeral was big, loads of kids from school. But, it was heartbreaking seeing how heartsick his family was. I'll never forget Pete. He was a special guy.
He taught us something to remember and paid with his life to make that point: don't drink or drug and drive!
When I was a scared kid transfering into Lord Kitchener elementary school in the middle of the fall of grade 5, I was in Peter's class. I thought he and Brian Rush were the coolest guys ever. I used to have to walk past the boys' field to get to school, and I remember Peter calling me over to the fence to tease and joke with me. He helped ease the transition to a school where I knew no one. I think of both Peter and Brian often, and of all the other kids who were taken from us so early. How wonderful that their memories live on in each of us, even as we were so sad to lose them.
