1965 The Diary Of Anne

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK

Gladstone's 26th major production, "The Diary of Anne Frank," was held on the evenings of December 1, 2, and 3.  Talent for this production was first rate, effort was unstinting, spirit was high and results were fully satisfying.

The play written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, was based on a diary kept during World War II in Nazi infested Amsterdam by a young Jewish girl.  The dramatic incidents recorded by Anne Frank provided excellent dramatic material which provided to be a real challenge to the Gladstone Thespians - a challenge well met by a sensitive and understanding cast.

The cooperation shown by all who were concerned with this dramatic production brought the kind of resuls which are the natural rewards of sincere and concentrated efforts

The setting for the play was an attic designed and made by Mr. Waldie and the Set Design Class.  The lighting, which gave an air of realism and added dramatic impact, was created by Mr. Averill and the Lighting Crew.

Throughout there was an unmistakable feeling of teamwork.  The artistic understanding, the fluency of movement, the professional quality of the sets and properties combined to give an evening full of hightlights.
