For the past twenty years, Doug has been earning his way by working on ships around the world. Although he no longer skis competitively, he still enjoys it recreationally. One day he plans on moving to his families' home on northern Vancouver Island, where he enjoys spending time with his parents.

Doug is constantly bothered (?) by Grade 7 and 8 girls who slip love letters into his locker (Could this have prompted the famed leap from the second floor window?) His travels (?) will continue on a freighter which will take him around the world.
