Allan Salo

SALO Allan Henry B.A., M.A., B.Arch., M.R.A.I.C.

Allan, beloved husband and lifetime partner of Linda Louise Hale died in Burnaby Hospital on April 25 from complications arising from severe pneumonia. Allan was a man with many interests that were expressed in a wide variety of ways. He loved sharing time with family and friends, playing with pets, drawing, writing, thinking about design problems, boating, photography, story-telling, cooking, woodworking, pumpkin-carving, traveling, listening to music and being at his farm in New Finland, Sask. His prairie heritage was apparent in his architectural design which always incorporated light and a sensitivity to line, especially curves. Simplicity with an element of whimsy is evident in many of his houses and custom furniture. Prior to becoming an architect, Allan completed an M.A. in Anthropology with special interests in religion, mythology and cultural definition. He recently returned his focus to these areas, working with the Kalevala myths from Finland. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Bertha and John Salo. He will be sorely missed by his wife Linda, best friend Arnie Ostevik, uncle George Nieminen, close friends Linda and Duncan Sharp and Judy and Don Lautamus as well as members of his extended family, good friends, contractors, craftsmen and clients. His creativity, good humour, patience, common sense and kindness touched many people.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, May 8 at 1 pm at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 6344 Sperling Ave., South Burnaby, B.C. Donations can be made in Allan's memory to a charity or educational institution of your choice.
