Barry Williamson

WILLIAMSON, Barry Allen (Brown Bear)
March 12, 1948 - February 13, 2020

A terrific and unique man has left us all devastated by his passing. Barry was born and raised in East Vancouver where he attended Beaconsfield Elementary and Gladstone High School, class of '66.

He leaves behind his wife Linda, his beloved dog Brady, three stepchildren: Lisa (Marco), Jason (Hiromi), and Dean. His grandchildren: Erik (Geo), Jackson, Ava, Marina, Tazz, and Sylas; great-grandchildren: Nailea and Iker; in-laws: Jennifer, Herb and Jason, Judi and Dale; nephews: Jesse, Tristan (Frances); and great-niece Chloe. He is survived by his brother John (Gaile) and their family Allan, Karen, Benjamin, Ray and Abigail and also his nieces Crystal (Tim), Ty and Andrea (Corey) and sons Wyatt and Logan. Also, many dear friends whom he considered family. He was predeceased by his mother Flo, his dad Les and sister Jean.

Over the years Barry met and maintained a large assortment of wonderful friends whom he loved as dearly as they loved him. Brown Bear was one of a kind! Everyone gravitated to Barry. He was quite a character. The Barry Stories we all have will keep his memory alive forever.

After many years of his downtown lifestyle in Vancouver, Barry met Linda in Hawaii through Linda's cousins Ron and Jane in 1987. Their life together was never boring. They spent many winters vacationing in their beloved San Jose del Cabo, Mexico with Lisa, Marco and family.

Barry loved to golf with his buddies at Peace Portal and enjoyed watching ultimate fighting with his friends. He loved to socialize enjoying good blues music, top-notch red wine and food. When Barry arrived, the party started! He enjoyed Friday night and Happy Hours at Earl's with Colin, Jason and Jeff and his midweek NFL lunches on Main Street.

Barry was working at Bob Dale Gloves and very much appreciated Denis, Paul, Mark and Keith for their support during the last six months.

There will be a Celebration of Barry's Life on March 27 from 1 - 5 p.m. in the upstairs banquet hall at the Firefighters Club, 6515 Bonsor Ave, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favourite charity. Rather than cards, bring us your favourite Barry Memory. Please join us to give our beloved Barry the send off he deserves. To Know Him is to Love him!!
