HOWARTH, Alan Firth

We are sad to announce the passing of Alan Firth Howarth. He passed peacefully at home the morning of July 1, 2016. He was predeceased by wife, Helen and brother, Ken. He leaves behind his loving family, Jo-Lynn and Bud, Gary and Judi, David and Paula, Brenda and Doug. 10 grandchildren and their spouses and 5 great- grandchildren along with many extended family members and friends.

He was born in Winnipeg MB on Sept 24, 1929 to Arnold and Katherine Howarth. The family moved to Vancouver when he was 12 years old. As a young boy he had a paper route and later worked selling auto parts for extra money. He attended John Oliver High School and went on to UBC to obtain his BA in education. He taught mathematics for 33 years before retiring to Heffley Lake where he and Helen enjoyed many wonderful times with family and friends.

He has seen many parts of the world, as he loved to travel. His last trip was to Cuba in February 2016. He enjoyed gardening and his efforts are displayed in full colour at Crescent Gardens, his home for the past 19 years. He was a born leader and helped to organize many of the events held at Crescent Gardens. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor and friend and will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be held at Fraser Heights Chapel 14835 Fraser Hwy.
