I think David died in the late 65 or early 66 ski season when his car was crushed by a big rock from a rock slide on the highway.

Chris I believe your dates are incorrect. I had the good fortune to sail with David in May of 1967 in the sailboat he built in woodwork. We sailed from Whytecliff park to Bowen Island for the weekend, a great adventure. A group of us, which included David and Graham Bell, went to the Cave Supper Club in October 1967 to see the Supremes. I can't remember the exact date of David's death, but I believe it could be early 1969.

Hi Mike

I'm glad to see some one else who remembers David and can clear up what I thought of as a strange gap in our classes' history. I wasn't a close friend of Davids', but still have a strong remembrance of the shock of someone I knew dying in a particularly violent manner.  I respect your memories of your friend, but I now wonder why this incident sticks so strongly in my mind if it occurred almost 2 years after we graduated . By that point I had been at UBC for a year and was working with almost no contact with most of our classmates. Strange how memory can interweave experiences.

Hi Chris,

The   mystery is solved.  David's accident was at Porteau Bluffs near Squamish on February 9,1969.  It is hard to believe we met at Quilchena School in 1959 and 10 years later he was gone.

Thanks Mike.

I have no annuals for the last years at PG, so I couldn't go back and remind myself about  who was there at the end through class pictures, etc. So, it was  a little mystery,  now explained.
