Bob Faulkner

I still live on Little York Road in the house where my parents lived when I was born. I retired last year from Hobart WHQ in Troy. I now am a well-known hybridizer of patterned daylilies...some of the best in the world. I am healthy, the house is paid for and still have my sense of humor.

One of my fondest memories in High School was in home room in the auditorium where we were seated in alphabetical order. I sat next to the most beautiful girl in class...Connie Giles and we became friends over the years. One of the funniest guys in class was Rick Fahrenkrug...a natural talent.
Another memory was being a Librarian and when the announcement came over the loud speaker that President Kenndy had been shot,all the girls were crying and the guys were just quiet.
Do any of you remember Mrs. Sterm? She was a short little lady, and kinda grumpy. She was a constant target...I remember when some of the guys (maybe girls even) would slip a condom over the door knob of her classroom, then we'd stand around and watch her try and pull it off the knob. It would 'twack' several times before she could successfully extract it.
One of my proudest moments was when I got an "A" in civics class under Mr. Gilbert...he was a scarey dude.
I remember how John Kleiber used to play the piano and blow us away. I also remember Maxine Carvalho (exchange student) taught me to speak Spanish better.

I remember the fun times in Senior Choir w/ Mr. Anderson...I can't remember if we were any good, but it was fun.

I remember in the 6th grade when Jim Barger and I went out for recess and chased a skunk across the field. Jim got sprayed and they sent him home. Nobody would sit next to me the rest of the day.

I remember how we used to pick on JoAnn Borchers all the time...I wonder if she grew up to be a preacher, or a convict?

I always wanted to play football, but had the build of a piccolo player in the band. Frustrating.

Overall I have nothing but good memories of Vandalia Butler High School...."the school we love the best." It was a great foundation for life for me and you all were a part of that. And for that I thank you.
