Dan Roland

My family moved from Vandalia to Washington, D.C. in the summer of 1962. We eventually moved to the Maryland suburbs where I graduated from DuVal HS 64 in Glendale, Maryland.

I was drafted into the USA in Nov. 1965 and spent one tour of duty in Vietnam. I was honorably discharged in 1967.

I moved to Muncie, Indiana in 1969 to attend Ball State University, graduating in 1973 and began teaching HS in August 1973. I have a BS degree from Ball State, two masters' degrees, an educational administrative degree from Ball State. I also have an Ed.S and Ph.D. from Indiana and Indiana State Universities.

I am married to Jan Lauer. We have one son, Jacob, 25 yrs. old who lives and works in Chicago.

I retired from education as a HS Principal and miss it very much. If I had it to do over I would never have retired at this point in my life. I volunteer at church, the senior center and I work out at the new YMCA five days a week. Something I haven't done for forty years.

Playing football my freshman and sophmore years at VB and winning the Southwest Buckeye League Championship in the 1961-62 school year.
