Ronald Colton Rogers

I finished the 9th grade before moving to Indianapolis where my Dad was transferred. I finished high school there then attended Indiana University and graduated in 1968.

In 1970 I married Betsy Atkins my high school sweetheart. We have been married 47 years now, have two daughters, and two grandsons.
We have lived in Lexington now for 28 years. I was transferred here by a Fortune 500 company for which I was general manager for their retail division. On Friday the 13th 1994 at noon I quit, walked out and when home and told Betsy what I had done. The corporate political game was bullshit. She went into shock as we had both our daughters at out of state collages at the time. Best thing I ever did! I had a consulting gig with the competition within two weeks which I eventually turned into a manufactures rep business. I now represent several manufacturers to sell and do customer service for their products. I have three customers. All of the ACE, True Value and Do it Best hardware stores. I have products in everyone of their stores coast to coast.

Fortunately I have good employees and am able to come and go as I please. We travel quite a bit and will do more in the future. We did a 2 week riverboat cruise form Amsterdam to Budapest then by land to Prague. Maybe a cruise and camping trip to the Galapagos islands new year. I would also like to go to Italy for a month and just hang out at some small little coastal town and get to know the locals.

When I'm not in the office I like to track events in my 300hp Mini Cooper, cruise around in an old Ferrari 328 or spend the weekends at our place on Lake Monroe near Bloomington, IN where I have been involved with the IU Alumni Association.
