My friend, I could never have imagined that I would write a few words to express the kind of person that you were to me. It has been a few years since you passed but even now it is so hard to believe that you are gone.
You were my strength, my sunshine and my rock. I don't remember how we got to be friends, but I am so glad for it. My matric year, in particular, was memorable because of you. We slept next to each other, we ate together, we shared a child, Nya, :-) we were family. You were my normal life, the one stable person in my life always there.
Your energy, your spunk, your zest for life was enviable. My fondest memory of you at your very best, in your element, was when you sang that Brenda Fassie song, was it "Higher and Higher", you killed it! You were happiest in the spotlight, performing, doing what you loved. You were gentle, loving, you took care of me.
Things did not work out for us so well after school, I guess it was not meant to be. I cherish the couple of times I saw you and spoke to you on the phone. Even though we had drifted apart, I am glad I got to speak to you before you passed.
