Martha and I go back a long ways.We started elementary school together and continued through our High School Years. I was saddened to hear of her passing. I'll never forget our travels to Schwarts Drive In on Kings Highway. We used to go up there either on a Friday or Saturday night. She was with me when I met my first love. I'll never forget him. His name was Michael Donavon Kingscott. Little did I know at the time that his parents owned Kingscott Architect. A very prominent business in Kalamazoo. We went together for two years and Martha kept telling me I know you and Mike will marry one of these days. Well it didn't happen. I found out that he was pretty high class and me being me was just a down to earth farm girl. It could have happened but, I wasn't ready and didn't want to rush into it. Martha was so disappointed. Martha was such a good friend. Someone that you could talk to and it wouldn't go any further than her. Not many of them around. As I attended her funeral so many emotions went running through my mind. All of the good times that we spent together. Martha and Linda Mears stood up with me at my wedding to whom I thought was the Love of my Life. But that ended 6 years after our marriage. And I have been married to my present husband for 40 years and I',m so sorry that Martha never got to meet him. We had lost contact with each other many years ago,but was reunited a few years back and was able to converse over the telephone. Martha had such a beautiful voice when singing. She loved our vocal class and she was one of Mr. Smith's favorites. She also played in the band. RIP my deat friend until we meet again
