Kathleen Salmond (Teacher)

SALMOND, Kathleen Ruth Born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, January 19, 1923 passed peacefully July 10, 2007 in Victoria. She was the daughter of Paul and Sophie Cowley, and sister to Rachel, Pauline, Phyllis (all deceased), Bill and Amy. She was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW 2 in Ontario. She was married to Patrick Hammersley Salmond in 1948 until his passing in 1996. She taught English, History and Drama from 1962 until 1983 at Belmont, Reynolds and Oak Bay High Schools. She was a World Federalist, and a lifetime member of the NDP and the Unitarian Church of Victoria. She is survived by her children, Robert James Salmond (Katie) and Suzanne Elizabeth Mah and her granddaughters Rebecca Dyan Salmond, L. Brittney Kreuzer and Lia Suzanne Marie Salmond. A Memorial Service will be held at The Unitarian Church, 5575 West Saanich Rd. at 2pm on Tuesday, July 17, reception to follow at Mrs. Salmonds house, 1449 Harrop Rd. Flowers declined in favour of a donation in her name to Amnesty International.
