Breaking VISD Rules

One of my favorite memories is associated with the band.  My sophomore year, we were practicing for concert competition.  One of the pieces was especially difficult for some reason, and all the band members were so tired of working on it, we were at our wit's ends.  The piece was from the opera Aida, entitled, "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral."  Our hard work was worth while as I remember because we made a 1 at contest, but that was not satisfying enough for us.  So at the end of school, I brought a large metal tub to school, and we burned the music, with each student contributing his/her hated sheet.  That was the most gratifying bonfire I've ever attended!

As I said, we broke rules, and if we need to pay for that music, then so be it.  I'm sure 70 other people and I will be ready and willing to cough up the money.  What a memory!
