Elroy was my brother-in-law and my husband's cousin. He loved to play the guitar and sing. He could curl his lip just like Elvis. We loved to hear him sing! His date of death was in January of 1988.
WE PLAYED IN A COUNTRY BAND FOR A TIME AND WE SPENT MANY A NIGHT DISCUSSING THE WORLD PROBLEMS WITH A COUPLE OF BEERS, A TRULY GOOD FRIEND... DAVID LIPSCOMB
For some reason, Elroy was "Roy" to me. I hope he didn't mind. He was a sensitive soul. We shared those long bus rides to and from school, living in the country. He was really good at playing his guitar and singing ballads--I remember "Young Love" was really nice. He left us way too soon.
Remember him coming home from the Marine Corp and telling about visiting far away places, which would all to soon become known as Southeast Asia to the rest of the world
"A White Sports Coat...and a Pink Carnation"...a song Elroy sang at the dances at Cran Jr. High School...That's what I remember about Elroy...Him and his guitar...Always thought he be successful as an entertainer...
