Mr. Junkin was an icon, not only in Victoria, but in the whole state.  He loved music and instilled that love in all his students.  He was much loved and will be greatly mourned.  In recent years, he would gather in my home with band students from the classes of '58, '59, and '60, where we would visit and eat, and share old memories of our years together in the band.  He was highly respected and will be sorely missed.
