GARRISON
Rebecca Lynn Young, 26, died Monday, July 24, 2006, in her home after a sudden illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Garrison United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Jan Ziskovsky. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial: Garrison Cemetery. Rebecca was born April 21, 1980, to Steven and Kathy (Ishman) Young, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton in 1999. She was presently employed by the Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton as a cook.
She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church in Garrison, was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed exercising, dancing and going to concerts. She was a lover of animals, especially her dog, Lucy. She was active with the Garrison Fire Department waterball competition throughout the state.
She is survived by her parents, Steven and Kathy Young; a brother, Ryan Craig and wife Rebecca Lynn of Altoona; her paternal grandmother, Marcella (Sally) Young of Garrison; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, James Victor Young and Clarence (Bud) Ishman; and grandmother, LaVon Helen Ishman.
A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements are pending with Russell Funeral Home in Vinton caring for Rebecca and her family.
