William Michael "Mike" Conlon, 73, of Fredericksburg died from complications due to lung cancer Sunday, October 17, 2010, at his residence surrounded by family.
Born in Natick, Massachutes, Mr. Conlon was a retired Major in the U.S. Army, a former land salesman in the Fredericksburg area and surrounding counties, and was retired from a civilian position for a U.S. Army Reserve Unit at Fort Belvoir. He was also a former member of Saint Mary's and Saint William of York Catholic Churches and formerly a longtime resident of Falmouth.
He attended the University of Maryland and was a graduate of Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.
Survivors include three sons, William Conlon of Chantilly, Michael Conlon of Bonaire, GA. and Thomas Conlon of Duncanville, TX.; five daughters, Barbara Gray of Lilburn, GA., Terri Hill of Cumming, GA., Michelle Coleman and Kathleen Fulcher of Orange County, and Kelly Conlon of PA.; three brothers, Arthur Conlon of The Villages, FL., John Conlon of Winder, GA., and Robert Conlon of Bedford, TX.; a sister, Jeannette Conlon of McKinney, TX.; sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Conlon was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jeannette Conlon, formerly of Tacoma Park, MD. and a grandson, Bryan Dusik, formerly of Lilburn, GA.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8:45 AM, Friday, January 21, 2011 at The Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, VA. Burial will be immediately following in Arlington National Cemetery, with full honors.
