Sean Ray Ferguson The beloved son of Darryl and Raelynn Ferguson died while serving in Badgdad, Iraq on November 12, 2011. Sean was working for a company named Triple Canopy which provides personal security for members of the United States State Department. His work took him to all places throughout Iraq. Sean was born in San Diego, California on July 7, 1982. He was a 2001 graduate of Mt. Whitney High School. The highlight of his time there was winning the Cowhide, as a wide receiver for the first time in 10 years for Mt. Whitney. He joined the US
Army in August of 2001. He loved the Army and served for eight years before being retired, as a Staff Sargent, due to wounds he received in combat while serving in Iraq with a unit known as "Deuce Four." Although never fully recovering from his injuries he returned to Iraq to finish his tour with those men he called "My brothers." Sean received two
purple hearts and many awards and commendations during his service to his country. He was very proud of the fact that he was in Mosul when the first elections were held after the fall of Saddam Hussein. He often talked of the pride the people had in showing him their purple stained fingers. Bringing freedom to the people of Iraq was important to him. He loved freedom and wanted it to bless the lives of all people. Sean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by his parents and his sister, Aimee Sorenson and his brother, Matthew Ferguson. He is also survived by seven nephews and one niece. Each one of them loved and adored him. He was their Army hero and he spent many hours with them playing army and loving every minute of it. Sean loved every opportunity he got to spend time with his family especially over the fourth of July at the family reunions in Provo, Utah. He is also survived by his grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins who prayed everyday for his safe return. Sean loved his country beyond measure and we as his family will miss him more than words can tell. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints Chapel located at the corner of Caldwell and Chinowth on Saturday at 10 a.m.
