I remember Wendell as one of the nicest guys in high school.  He was such a good friend and I will always have fond memories of him.  Rest easy now, Wendell๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

I have known Wendell since my days at Tennyson. Such a fun guy and always in "positive mode"! He had not attended many reunions, so I contacted him about coming to our 70th BD party. I called him several times & he never committed & never signed up to attend, so, what a surprise when I saw him at the party! He gave his wife,Suzy, credit to urging him to "get up and go" to the party & she thanked me for the numerous calls! Later, I saw Wendell sitting with Jack Henry, & some others, laughing & sharing memories. I had no idea that Wendell was battling cancer & never dreamed he, nor Jack, would be with us for this year's 55th reunion. As we grow older our days are more cherished! *** I attended his funeral service, as did Jimmy Miller, Joe Hunter & Alan Hensel. There may have been others I did not see. I learned that Wendell & his wife had reared their grandson. He had taught him how to play baseball & spent countless hours coaching & taking the boy to games. It payed off, because Peyton now plays baseball for the University of Texas!  I also learned that Wendell used his experiences, as a bail bondsman, to mentor teens. ** Thanks, Wendell, for making the most of your 72 year, life journey. You certainly touched many lives along the way. You are a sweet memory & a golden strand in the fabric of my life. ** Rest in peace dear one!                                                                                                     Ronda Roberts Jackson
