Donald M. Johnson 1924-2009 Donald M. Johnson, 84, of Wadsworth passed away Friday, February 27, 2009. Born September 30, 1924 in Wadsworth to the late Carl and Mabel Johnson. Don was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. His life was dedicated to teaching which was his passion, not a job. Mr. Johnson served his country as a medic in the 359th Engineers of the United States 3rd Army. He graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1942, received his Bachelors Degree in Sciences and a Masters Degree in education from Kent State University. He taught in Rootstown, was a teacher and principal in Paris TWP., South East School District for two years, and taught Biology, Science, English, and History for 22 years in Wadsworth. After retiring from Wadsworth City Schools he taught at The University of Akron for 2 years. He was a member of Wadsworth United Methodist Church, Ohio Education Association, Natitonal Education Association, WEA, and a former member of Wadsworth Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his brother Hubert E. Johnson and great grandchildren Victoria Hope Robbins and Alexander Charles Kay. Donald is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Durr) of 62 years, two daughters and sons-in-law Karen Christine and Ron White of Rittman and Elizabeth Ann and Ted Keller of Cuyahoga Falls, three granddaughters; Kathryn Christine and John Roebuck of Seville, Cara Lee and Andrew Kay of Staten Island, NY, and Megan Elizabeth Runfola of Cuyahoga Falls, and five great grandchildren; Emma and Jordan Robbins, Alisandra Zurzolo, Jake Roebuck, and Logan Kay. The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted 10:00 AM Wednesday with Rev. Jerry Penrod and Paul Garrett officiating. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Village, especially the 200 wing and the therapist, and also the Emergency Room staff and the 3rd floor staff at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital.
