Mildred "Millie" Caplowe, aged 90, passed away on September 5, 2011. She leaves behind her loving husband of 70 years, Dr. Samuel Caplowe, now 95, and her three loving daughters and sons-in-law, Adi Caplowe and Joseph Felder; Carol Caplowe and grandson Aaron Caplowe; and Susie Caplowe and Dan Hendrickson; granddaughter, Ariana Rabinovitch and her husband Adam; and great-grandchild, Julia; and her most cherished caregiver and friend, Rozia Laine.
Millie was from Ohio and taught in the Wadsworth, Ohio, school system for over 19 years. She immersed herself into everything she did. She listened with an open heart to every word you said and she always found a way to make you feel better. She had a wonderful, lovely smile and a sense of humor that lasted a lifetime. Millie ran for Wadsworth City Council when she was 37, informing the public of the importance of green space in the downtown square, where the lovely gazebo still stands. She held leadership positions in the PTA, Kiwanis Auxiliary, Garden Club, and Wadsworth Federation of Women's Clubs that created the high school library. In 1947, Millie was writing letters to elected leaders and the U.S. Supreme Court Justices standing up for the right to vote for all. Millie loved to paint, sing, play piano, and golf. We loved to be part of her life as she engaged in her world. Mom had Dystonia, Spasmodic Torticultis for 30 years but never complained. She is now at peace and free from pain. She died of natural causes.
Funeral was Friday, September 9, in West Palm Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, Suite 2810, 1 E. Wacker Dr., Chicago, IL 60601, or to the Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
