Greg R. Horner beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many passed away suddenly on Friday, April 12th, 2024 at the age of 69. Greg lived a life filled with a passion for the great outdoors, family gatherings and the simple pleasures of life.

Greg was born on January 2nd, 1955, in Medina, Ohio to Earl and Barbara (Hartman) Horner. He graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1973. Greg married Judy Kay Pearson on July 11th, 1990 in Wadsworth, Ohio.

He had a very strong work ethic and was the owner and operator for Greg Horner Drywall for over 40 years, working until the day of his passing.

Greg was an avid outdoorsman from a young age. He found solace and joy in hunting, sport shooting, fishing and the tranquil beauty of nature. This started at a young age alongside his father and brothers and carried throughout his adult life. Greg was a member of Moose Lodge #860 where he served on the Board and was a former member of several outdoors clubs.  He also enjoyed spicy foods, classic rock on his turntable, and travel with Judy. 

Greg is survived by his wife Judy Horner of Rittman; five children, Sherri Newman of Wadsworth, Deejay (Monica) Sega of Wadsworth, Shawn (Karen) Horner of Hudson, Tiffany (Dean) Testa of New Franklin, and Hilary (Dave) Hrutkai of Wadsworth; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Jenny (Charles Sides) Horner of Yellow Springs, Brad (Robin) Horner of Marshallville, Rick (Stefanie) Horner of Wadsworth, and Doug (Lauren) Horner of Rittman; and his mother, Barbara Horner of Marshallville.

In the hearts of those who loved him, Greg’s spirit will forever reside, a beacon of warmth and fond memories. Though he may have departed from this world, his gentle quiet nature and legacy will endure.

A celebration of Greg's life will be held at from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Rittman Moose Lodge # 860, 12527 Sheets Road, Rittman.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an animal rescue organization of your choice in Greg’s honor.

 

Auble-Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman is assisting with the arrangements. Upon his request a cremation has taken place.
