I'm sorry to hear of her death. We went to Franklin school together and I still remember her. Rest in peace,Sandy Poling (McDermott)
Rita and I remained in contact for a couple of years after high school and then drifted apart for various reasons. Our paths crossed several times over the years and since she is no longer able to speak for herself I thought that I would add a few things.Rita worked third shift at Myers Industries. I don't know how she did it. I know I wouldn't have been able to do that. If memory serves me right she met he husband by writing to men who were serving our country in the militay, somewhat like meeting someone online today. They got married and had a son, Johnny, who was named after her dad. It was a very difficult pregnancy due to the diabetes and she spent a few months in the hospital before Johnny was born. He was the love of her life and I'm sure if you had asked her, knowing how difficult the pregnancy was, would she have done it again the answer would have been a big difinitely. Our paths crossed about a year before she passed away at the Blue Tip Festivile. This is when she told me that she was doing dialyssis. She needed a kidney transplant and because of the condition on her heart she also needed a heart transplant. They wouldn't do a kidney transplant because of the heart and they wouldn't do the heart transplant because of the kidneys. Rita lived her life doing what she loved, being a wife and a mother.
I will always remember you Rita.
Love,
Sandy
