Deceased Name: Susan Carol Brooks
Susan Carol Brooks, 51, passed away peacefully with family by her side at her home on May 12, 2007 after a 10 month courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Susan had lived in Tallmadge since 1981 and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Susan was a Registered Nurse for 32 years after graduating from St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing in 1975. She was employed at Akron City Hospital in Special Procedures/Angiography for the last 10 years and considered this close-knit group among her dearest friends and part of her extended family. When not working, she enjoyed music, reading, traveling, and was very involved with her children and their activities.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rita Ritchie. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Eric) Brooks of Tallmadge; sons, Specialist in the United States Army Michael Brooks stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas and currently serving his country in Iraq, and Jeffery Brooks of Tallmadge; sisters, Deborah (Thomas) Spoerndle of Stow, and Sharon (Larry) Snyder of Seville; brother, James (Sue) Ritchie of Oakmont, Pa.; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and devoted friend for life, Dewey Brooks.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 73 North Ave. in Tallmadge, with Rev. Fr. John Hengle officiating. Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

I am so sorry to hear of Sue's passing. She was an amazing girl. The thing I remember most of her in High school was she always knew what she wanted and was never afraid to work for it. Sue was a blessing to me. I know she was a wonderful Mother and wife. Those that were her friends will miss her for ever.
