Larry Lyons(22) and his brother, Jerry Lyons(28) both of 4475 Hametown Road, Norton, have been charged with felonious assault in the shooting of Sam Graham, Jr..
Wadsworth police said Graham was shot in the back of the head around 12:30 a.m. as he and three other men were riding in a pickup truck near Chestnut Steet and Fairview Avenue in Wadsworth.
 

Sam Graham, Jr., is in serious condition in I.C.U. at Akron City Hospital after being shot in the back of the head early Sunday morning.
Two brothers, Larry, 22 and Jerry, 28, Lyons of 4475 Hametown Road, Norton, were charged with felonios assault in the shooting, and a warrant has been issued for another brother, Roger. Larry and Jerry are in Wadsworth jail.
The shooting was a culmination of bad feelings between the Lyons and Graham and his friends. A friend of Graham's said he had been shot at earlier that day as he rode a motorcycle past a Water Street home. Just past midnight Graham and three friends were driving along Chestnut Street when a car pulled up behind them. Two shots were fired at Graham's pickup,as Graham turned onto Fairview Avenue. The second shot shattered the side window, and struck Graham below the ear. His truck left the road and hit the front of a house at 231 Fairview. Three passengers, Brenda Blubaugh, William Blount, and Fran Romans were uninjured. Norton police arrested the Lyons brothers a half hour later. The weapon was not found.
They pled "NOT GUILTY" before Judges Phillip Baird and Neil Whitfield. Jerry Lyons was charged with aggravated murder, while Larry Lyons was charged with complicity. The GRAND JURY handed down an indictment against Roger Lyons, Norton, charging him with complicity in the OCTOBER 23 slaying of Sam Graham, Jr.. Graham, 21, (in November 1977) died at AKRON GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER NOVEMBER 5, 1977 from complications suffered from a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Summit County Coroner ruled the death a homicide.
